We had an interesting discussion on Getty page on Facebook
The Getty works around the world. Yesterday, we celebrated the reopening of the Church of Kuñotambo, an earthen building constructed in 1681 in the Peruvian Andes.
The Getty Conservation Institute has been working with local partners and the Dirección Desconcentrada de Cultura de Cusco over the last 10 years to restore and stabilize the Church of Kuñotambo after a series of earthquakes rendered it too damaged to be used by the community.
But now, one of the community’s most important buildings is reopened and rededicated with a stronger foundation, reconstructed supporting buttresses, new beams and roofing, and a newly conserved 18th-century gilded altar.

Adil Abdalla: Saleh Lamei, Does Getty violate the codes? There are many new elements replacing authentic others.. Earthen conservation is tricky, yet codes are codes!
David W. Bond yet something is better than nothing, we shouldn’t complain too much functionality often exceeds perfection.
Adil Abdalla David W. Bond I agree on your point, but trying to establish parameters for Code Violation.. Authenticity is always a burden, costly and not appealing for functionality or business. I personally had done the same with heavy heart.. Prof Saleh Lamei is a leading authority at ICOMOS.. and proudly my own mentor too.. Good to meet you on FB
Saleh Lamei Not only Getty, but also European countries..!
Wolfgang Mayer and what was About Al Azhar Mosque??????? and the oldest Mosque in Fustat????
Adil Abdalla Wolfgang Mayer: not a church for a Mosque.. but what is right or wrong.. Yes, agreed that many wrong applications had taken place across the underdeveloped world, whereas authorities had closed eyes for sack of politics, tourism or funds.. Therefore, this was the merit of my question, where all negative factors are supposedly eliminated by Getty contribution..
