Conakry Urban Mobility (Transport) Master Plan
I can’t understand the justification to spend so much on old congested 7.0 km strip of land, instead of building new developments either north or south of it.
The “Phenomenon of Achieving Big” is dangerous for the underdeveloped countries. Guinea is wasting too much resources from its good growth (6%) of its $ 11 bln GDP for an urban fantasy. In addition, there is no economic opportunities by upgrading the old districts, despite the fact that we have to enhance the living of their growing population (3%), but should be done at a reasonable cost. Guinea has to work on their Economy which has lowest competences on African scale. Adil
The Urban Mobility Plan of Conakry is a holistic transport master plan for the capital of Guinea that aims to apply Transit Oriented Development, mass transit development, walkability and modal shift from roads to rails for urban logistics to a typical monocentric African metropolis that is about to double its urban population from 2.5 to 5 million by 2040, on a narrow peninsula of 45 km long. The master plan study , funded by the EU (PAST program), was elaborated by Egis and Louis Berger, with Sebastien Goethals as project manager (director of Citilinks).
